Who is your favourite Northern Storyteller?
Peter Mitchell
Why are they your favourite?
Peter Mitchell is a documentary photographer known for documenting locations around Leeds across the years. Inspiring as a lot of the places are easily recognisable and the scenes captured tell stories on their own through the imagery, lighting and composition.
When did you first discover or hear about this Northern Storyteller?
I bought a book by him called ‘Strangely Familiar’.
What one question would you ask them if you could meet them in person?
What is the one location he misses most from the photo’s he’s taken (majority of Leeds has now been developed since his early works)?
If you could spend a day with your favourite Northern Storyteller, what would you get up to?
Look through his unpublished archive of pictures and listen to the stories he has to tell about capturing them.
